Laser Cutting

Laser Cutting is a prototyping and manufacturing tool to cut and etch into flat material which can be used on materials such as acryic and plywood.

The process involves cutting material using thin, focused laser beam to pierce and cut through materials to cut out patterns and geometries specified.

Apart from cutting, laser cutters can also raster or etch designs onto work pieces by heating up the surface of the workpiece, thus burning off the top layer of the material to change its appearance where the raster operation was performed.

Advantages

  • High level of precision and positional accuracy

  • Material saving

  • High speed of production

  • Sharp and clean edges

  • Very little deformation of the material

  • 2D Design software

I will be using CorelDRAW for my 2D design in order for it to get laser cut.

    Type of Laser Cutter

I will be using the Epilog Fusion M2 as shown in the pictures for all of my laser cutting.
